Imperative to our students’ success is communication with families. We do this through the use of a variety of formats.

Planners

Every hour, students should be writing homework/learning targets into each class’ box. Each night, students should check the planner to make sure they have done all of their homework, and families can check on work assigned for the day.

Parent Portal

The Parent Portal is a tool for families to stay informed and engaged in your child’s education. Updated weekly, the Parent Portal gives parents and guardians access to grades, transcripts, attendance and your child’s class schedule. Many families have found it helpful to pick a day of the week to review the portal with their students. More information and how to sign up can be found at: http://parentportal.mpls.k12.mn.us. Parent Portal login is at: https://sisportal.mpls.k12.mn.us.

Your Parent Portal account also lets the school get in touch with you. To change your communication preferences, go to http://www.mpls.k12.mn.us/school_messenger.

Email

Most teachers prefer to be contacted via email. These emails can be found on Page’s website under "Meet the Staff", as well as on the teachers' web pages.

Around the Horn

Weekly, Justice Page Middle School sends out the "Around the Horn" newsletter via email to update families on events related to school. All parents with an email address associated with one or more JPS students will receive "Around the Horn."

Conferences

Twice a year, teachers get to officially sit down with students and families to set goals (October) and check in with progress (February). More information will be sent home in Advisory as well as posted on our website. If families feel that more conferences are needed, please email your student’s teacher.

Orientation Nights

Before school begins in August, Page hosts orientation nights for students and families to meet teachers, staff, and other families. Our 6th Grade Orientation happens the Wednesday before school starts. Our 7th and 8th Grade Orientation happens the Thursday before school starts.
