Doug Werner

Hello! I am excited to be a part of the Ramsey Middle School team! I will be teaching the AVID elective class, and also will serve as the RMS AVID coordinator.

I have taught social studies for a number of years -- including ten years at Rogers Middle School, in Rogers, Minnesota, and then started teaching for Minneapolis Public Schools at Edison High School in 2014-2015 school year. I am excited for my second year of teaching at Ramsey.

I am a native of the Twin Cities (White Bear Lake), and I attended Saint Mary's University in Winona for my bachelor of arts degree in social science.  I continued my education through Saint Mary's - Minneapolis by earning a masters of instruction with a Minnesota teaching license to teach 5-12 social studies in 2004. In addition, I have studied gifted/talented instruction, and have participated in five AVID summer institute trainings for the work that I do with our AVID classes.

In my spare time, I enjoy following current events, keeping up with politics, reading, checking out new restaurants, and traveling.
