Picture Day
Wednesday, October 16, 2019 7:40 AM

Picture Day will be on Thursday, October 24. Order forms will be sent home soon. You can return the order form on picture day, or you can order online from Lifetouch at my.lifetouch.com. ALL students will have their picture taken regardless of ordering for use in the yearbook and for school IDs. Picture retakes will be December 4.

Please Note: Students are only included in the yearbook IF they have OPTED IN by checking the yearbook box and signing the Media Release form included in the schedule folders distributed during orientation. If you are unsure if you have one on file, you can print the Media Release form, fill it out, and have your student drop it off with Mary or Chelsea in the main office.

We’re looking for a few volunteers to help photographers and staff manage students on picture day, and also on retake day. This is the only paid volunteer work at JPS, as volunteers are entitled to a free packet of pictures! If you are interested in helping, please sign up to volunteer here.

Yearbook Co-Chair Needed
Wednesday, October 16, 2019 7:00 AM

Help coordinate the production of the school yearbook. This role involves creating student and staff pages using pictures provided by Lifetouch, laying out additional yearbook pages, distributing the yearbook order form, working with the PTA webmaster to manage online orders, and distributing yearbooks once they’re received. The current chair will provide plenty of information and resources for putting the yearbook together.

Note: this is the current chair’s last year working on the yearbook. It would be great to train someone in this year, so that the transition is easy next year!

Email Kelly Taschler at ktaschler@gmail.com for more information.

Please join us for a presentation and discussion!

  • E-cigarette use among high schoolers has risen dramatically across Minnesota in the last three years.
  • E-cigarettes have become the next big thing. Youth love them for the big hit of nicotine and their easily hidden, deceptive looks.
  • Kids are attracted to flavored e-cigarettes and mistakenly believe these products are harmless.
  • E-cigarettes contain a mixture of nicotine and other chemicals and are highly addictive.
  • Nicotine is harmful to the developing adolescent brain.

Presented by Washburn Parent Group and Tobacco-Free Alliance. Funded under a Minnesota Dept. of Health Tobacco-Free Communities grant.

Countdown to Give to the Max Day
Wednesday, October 16, 2019 6:30 AM

Give to the Max is on November 14—less than a month away—and it’s our school's biggest fundraiser of the year! This is an easy way for parents, grandparents, and anyone in the community to support our school. It’s more cost effective and efficient than selling wrapping paper or candy bars. It’s just one day out of the year, and the funds go directly to items that benefit our school.

Stay tuned for more information on this year’s fundraising goals and how you can make the most of your donation. Read our Give to the Max page for answers to frequently asked questions about Give to the Max.
