The PTA Needs You!

The JPS PTA is looking for key leaders for the 2020-2021 school year. We need volunteers for the entire executive committee (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer). Additionally, we need volunteers to compile next year’s yearbook, and to serve as a volunteer coordinator. If we do not receive any executive committee volunteers by March 1, 2020 we will begin the process of shutting down the PTA organization for next year. Now is the time for you to step up and participate in a more meaningful way!

Breaking Barriers Film Festival

Attention 7th grade parents and families: On Thursday, February 20, your 7th grade student will be showcasing their “Breaking Barriers” film during our first ever Film Festival in honor of Black History Month and Civil Rights. The event is from 6 to 8 PM and your student will receive a time slot for their presentation later next week. Please alert your student’s teacher if you have any scheduling conflict. We hope to see you there!

Yearbook Orders

It's time to order yearbooks! Place your order by April 10, 2020. The yearbook costs $7.
There are two ways to order:

  1. Online. Note: online orders incur an additional transaction fee of $0.50, for a total charge of $7.50.
  2. Print and complete a paper order form and send it with cash or a check to school. If paying by check, please make the check payable to Justice Page Middle School PTA. Paper forms can be dropped off either in the Main Office, or with students’ advisory teachers. A few paper forms are also available in the Main Office.

If your student regularly uses a name other than the name on their district records, please submit a name change request form to use their preferred name in the yearbook.

FAST Assessments

As part of our progress monitoring in math and reading, MPS administers the FAST assessment test 3 times per year. This tool is used to measure growth in mathematics and reading during the school year.

Crew Leaders will distribute the FAST reports to students this week, so that families can see their students’ growth. If you have any questions about your student’s FAST report, please contact Assistant Principal Angie Ness at

Staff Highlight: John McClain

Coffee with the Principal

Please join us on Friday, February 21 at 8:30 AM in the Honor Room to have coffee with Principal Rathke. She will update us on any school, district, or community news. We also will be celebrating our African-American families and will have a few members of the Minneapolis Community Gospel Choir joining us. Everyone is welcome, and we hope to see you there!

Cheerleading Clinic

Washburn High School is hosting a cheerleading clinic for middle school students. The clinic will be held at Washburn from 4:30 to 6:00 PM on February 25 and 27. Then, on February 28, students will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, and will perform at halftime during the boys basketball game!

Register online by February 21. Registration is $20 and includes a free t-shirt.
