More about afterschool

ALC Extended Learning Courses are focused on academic support. These classes are taught by licensed teachers and are free to eligible students. Most ExL classes are year-round (Oct-May).

Community Education Enrichment Courses are focused on fun, enrichment, exploring, creating, and connecting.  These classes are available to all students. These classes have a fee to cover the cost of the teacher and supplies. Some classes will have a supply fee to cover the cost of consumable materials. Classes are offered on a sliding scale. Families are asked to choose the price that works for them or select the no-cost option.

Sliding Scale: In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education offers fees on a sliding scale. A sliding scale model for program fees allows classes to be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the average cost of offering a class as well as discounted options. By clearly articulating our lower-cost options, we hope to have removed the barrier some may have felt in making a request for a scholarship. When families participate as they are able, at all levels of our sliding scale, the whole program becomes self-sustaining.

TRANSPORTATION is available upon request to students who live in the Justice Page busing area. It can take up to three (3) weeks for a student to be added to the after school bus route. In the meantime, we will do our best to issue temporary passes for students to ride.  Please request transportation when you register.

REGISTRATION: Please visit mplscommunityed.com to register. Students should not attend after school on the same day they register. We require at least one (1) business day to process all registrations.

Employment:  We are hiring afterschool youth workers. We are looking for people who want to share their passion or hobby with young people. If you are interested please contact Emily Sowell.
