Troccoli, Dan

PolarMe & children - Daniel Troccoli.jpg

I'm back for my 2nd year teaching at Justice Page! I taught at North HS in MPS before coming to JPMS and prior to that I taught in Seattle Public Schools.

"Those who do not study history are condemned to repeat it." This famous quote encapsulates a fair amount of my approach to teaching social studies. There's no point in studying history unless it can be used to understand what is going on in the world today. Hence we will often be talking about current events and try to analyze what is happening and why. As students take in and process history its equally important to develop their own viewpoints on the world.

I try to balance a teacher's hectic work life with a boat load of activism and running around town having fun with my kiddos. You might come across us camping in Minnesota's north woods, snowboarding at Hyland or walking the halls of the Minneapolis Institute of Art down the street from where we live.
