Elissa Cedarleaf Dahl
Hello! I teach Visual Arts, Mural Arts ("Art Elective") and Arts Integration at Justice Page Middle School. I also am the co-lead of the Equity Team for staff and the co-facilitator of Dare 2 Be Real, a student group that develops anti-racist leaders in our school and community. I have worked for Minneapolis Public Schools since 2002 and also was an Adjunct Professor at Minneapolis College of Art and Design from 2007-2013. My license area is K-12 Visual Arts with Spanish proficiency.
I received my BA in Art and Spanish from Macalester College, and a Master's in Fine Art from Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2007. In 2002, I began working for the Minneapolis Public Schools and since then I have taught Art and Spanish, coordinated Summer School Programs, and directed Environmental Education trips for Middle Grades students to Ely, MN and the Black Hills of South Dakota. I have painted over 30 murals, many collaboratively, and have artwork on 6 continents after working as a free-lance artist for more than 15 years. I co-owned a North Minneapolis art gallery named "Offbeat," worked at the Walker Art Center, and ran a kitchen at a Day Shelter on 17th and Chicago.
I live in North Minneapolis with my husband Erik and our daughters Lucia and Soli. I love to travel, play softball, bike, and compete in nordic ski races. I am very dedicated to Community Arts and Arts Education at Justice Page and in Minneapolis. Go Rhinos!
