Conferences are coming up very soon! Please read through all of the information below, to be fully prepared for conferences.

Purpose: The purpose of our fall conferences is for students to identify a school year goal. The conferences are an opportunity for families, students and teachers to discuss the student’s goal and classroom objectives. The drop-in format allows all families to come within a specified timeframe based on their last name and meet with as many teachers as they wish. Each student will work with their Advisor to complete the Goal Setting Worksheet which is necessary for each conference. It is best to have your student and family members together for drop-in conferences.

Format: This year, conferences will be done in a drop-in format. No appointment is necessary; simply drop in to meet with teachers according to the following schedule.

Thursday, October 12:
4:30-6:00 PM: drop-in for families with last names A-L

Why Have a Goal Setting Focus:
  • Encourages students to take ownership of their own education
  • Breaks down the larger goal of success in school into more manageable steps
  • Sets the year up as one of working toward success
Parent Portal: Prior to conferences, families should review parent portal and check for missing assignments and assessments, as well as checking the student's current grade in each class. It is recommended that families and students bring a copy of their current grades from parent portal. We will provide parent portal assistance in the main office. Instructions to access Parent Portal are here (en Español | af Soomaali). If you have questions about assignments, learning targets, assessments, and/or grades, feel free to email those teachers any time.
Interpreters: Both Somali and Spanish interpreters will be available. The interpreters will be at the main entrance and in each grade level area.
Common Questions to ask the teacher:
  • How is my student getting along with his/her peers?
  • How is his/her engagement in class activities?
  • How can I support you from home?
If you have a larger concern please contact the teacher to make a longer appointment.
