Welcome Back Letter
Thursday, August 1, 2019 12:00 PM

Dear Justice Page Families and Community:
Welcome to another amazing school year at JPS! I am so proud to work with our dedicated, experienced staff, and enthusiastic learners! We believe that the consistent leadership and staff continue to bring us closer to our school goals. We have a strong commitment to continuing our success and becoming the strongest middle school around!

As the demands and complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes more evident that we all need to work together to ensure that our children reach their potential. We believe that all of us – the school and the community – must work together as an extended family environment to ensure success for all our students. We believe it is everyone’s responsibility to empower children with the creative, intellectual, and decision-making skills necessary for them to become academically, socially, physically, and emotionally successful, and responsible.

We will continue to have a commitment to Social Emotional Learning, Restorative Practices, high academic standards, and relationships.

We will continue to strengthen our sense of BELONGING through Crew, which is a ritual, a coming together, and the creation of a close-knit student community. Crew is a daily school activity, five days a week that supports students socially, emotionally, and academically. Crew is an integral part of our JPS model. It is a structure that fosters a sense of belonging within students, and it is a place where they can be their best selves, while lifting up their peers to achieve more than they think is possible. Crew provides each student a one-to-one relationship with an adult advisor (Crew leader) at school, as well as a consistent and ongoing small-scale peer community. The activities, exercises, and discussions help establish Crew pride and a positive school culture.

We will work on the 5 Social Emotional Competencies:

  • Self-Management
  • Self-Awareness
  • Social Awareness
  • Relationship Skills
  • Responsible Decision-Making

Our staff at Justice Page teaches and believes these competencies will help students be successful.

The Houses of Page
Each grade level at Justice Page is a part of a “house” to create a sense of friendship and belonging. Each student has a place and purpose at Justice Page. Each House will be represented by a color. These colors were voted by students. They will follow the grade levels through their three years at JPS.

6th Grade: Black House
7th Grade: Green House
8th Grade: Purple House

Our 4 Cornerstones will continue to guide us at Justice Page on how to successfully learn together and interact with each other as a community.
Help Others Succeed
Communicate that “YOU MATTER”
Honor the Absent
See the Problem, Own the Problem

We will be having a Welcome Back Super Block Party on Wednesday, August 28 from 5:00pm-6:15pm. There will be food trucks, ice cream trucks, lawn games, henna and much more. Please join us for our first ever Super Block Celebration!

We are so excited to welcome our new 6th graders to Justice Page! After our block party, the 6th grade Orientation will take place on August 28 from 6:00pm- 8:00pm. The first portion of the night will start in the auditorium at 6:15. The transition into middle school is very important and we want this night to begin the process of BELONGING at Justice Page. The purpose of the event is to fill out all school forms, meet the Administrative Team and teachers, get student schedules, and tour the building. **Don’t forget to sign up for Parent Portal

The Welcome Back Night for 7th and 8th graders will take place on August 29 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Come a few minutes early and enjoy the ice cream food truck. The event will start at 6:00pm in the auditorium. Parents and guardians will fill out forms, students will receive their schedules and meet their teachers, and everyone will learn more about the upcoming school year.
