Hayley Wender

Greetings! I am incredibly excited to be teaching 8th grade ELA (English Language Arts) here at Justice Page. I aim to be a resource for every student, and hope for us to work together to help one another achieve.

I started my career at Lake Harriet middle school, and have since taught at an alternative learning center in Mahtomedi, where I also coached our MAAP stars team. Further I have been an educator at an arts charter school where I not only taught English and social studies, but also coached orchestra. Finally, I worked a number of years in the Stillwater district, where I taught 7th and 9th grade ELA and co-directed our theater program.

I began my journey as an education major at St. Olaf college, where I was challenged to look at my future career as a vocation. Since then I have completed my M.Ed. at the University of MN, and been able to attend a number of conferences on middle school learning and have myself presented on the integration of Shakespeare language and theater in the classroom.

A few fun facts about me: I am a violinist, and my musical journey has taken me on a number of adventures, including the opportunity to play and study abroad. In addition, I am an avid theater lover and perform on a number of metro stages, as well as support the performers underneath the stage, in the orchestra pit! Finally, I live happily with my wonderful husband and daughter, where we enjoy Harry Potter weekends whenever we get the chance.

I am thrilled to be your partner in learning!
