Hayley Wender

Greetings! I am incredibly excited to be teaching 8th grade ELA (English Language Arts) here at Justice Page. I aim to be a resource for every student, and hope for us to work together to help one another achieve.
I started my career as a student teacher in Minneapolis (for the phenomenal Alison Constant), where the power of student voice and the commitment to quality teaching of writing took root. I have since gleaned experiences at an alternative school and the Stillwater School District, where my love of teaching Shakespeare (sharing the "Will Power") began. Since 2014 I have been back in Minneapolis alongside Alison Constant, where together we endeavor to build culturally relevant, rigorous curriculum for 8th grade students, with a particular emphasis on academic writing.
My background in theater grounds the hands-on, active environment of my classroom. Students will engage in robust discussion, thoughtful writing, and fun literary antics every day! When not reading essays, I explore the Twin Cities with my three year-old, watch BBC Masterpiece television, or read Victorian mysteries, YA fiction...really anything placed in front of me.
I am thrilled to be your partner in learning!
